Credentials:

Dr. Mejia became involved in hair transplantation during his Dermatology Residency. As a Resident, he saw several patients who had Androgentic Alopecia. Dr. Mejia sought to learn medical and surgical solutions that could benefit his patients.

Dr. Mejia joined Medical Hair Restoration because of the quality of the work. He observed Dr. Matt Leavitt’s procedures that demonstrated a thorough understanding of the art and science of follicular unit hair transplantation. Dr. Mejia found Dr. Leavitt’s experience and professionalism unparalleled.

“A patient should expect a hair transplant surgeon to be knowledgeable about medical diseases and evaluation of hair loss,” said Dr. Mejia. “Dermatologists are specifically trained to evaluate these conditions. Some patients may not need a hair transplant if the root of their problem is due to an underlying medical problem or disease. Patients should look for a physician who has been trained in the art of hair transplantation and can listen to their needs to assure the procedure fits the desired goal."

Dr. Mejia is very analytical and detail oriented, coming from a background in Biomedical Engineering. He emphasizes the methodical and scientific basis for the transplantation of each individual hair. “My goal is to constantly learn and research new techniques to assure I am providing quality service that will produce a natural hair transplant.

“When patients decide to have their procedure done with MHR, they have chosen a team of experienced hair transplant surgeons. Our doctors have worked on men and women of different races and with a variety of hair styles,” said Dr. Mejia. “I want to give the patients what they need to put them more at ease during the surgery. If they want to know exactly what is being done step-by-step, I’ll talk them through the procedure. If they would like to watch, we’ll set up a mirror for them. If they like a specific style of music, I’ll play that during the surgery.”

He has found talking to the patients during the procedure, either about the operation or about unrelated topics, tends to make them more comfortable. “Having the patients imagine themselves in their favorite vacation spot, and the sights, sounds and smells associated with it is something else that helps them relax during the surgery.”

To Dr. Mejia the most satisfying part about what he does is listening to the surprise and satisfaction when patients look back at their before pictures.
