Dr. Coats-Walton is a native Washingtonian. She is a proud graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Science degrees from North Carolina Central University and from Howard University with Honors. In 1995, she completed her Dermatology Residency at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. In 1997, Dr. Coats-Walton continued her career in Dermatology at the National Institutes of Health, National Cancer Institute, completing a Dermatology Fellowship in Pigment Cell Research as a Lieutenant Commander with the Public Health Service. Currently, Dr. Coats-Walton is the Medical Director of Aesthetic Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery Center in Bowie, Maryland. She is also an Attending Physician at the Washington Hospital Center and serves as a Faculty Member of the Howard University College of Medicine, Department of Community Health and Family Practice.
Dr. Coats-Walton is currently licensed to practice in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. She enjoys and practices Clinical, Cosmetic, and Surgical Dermatology. Dr. Coats-Walton is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Dermatology with certifications in 1997, 2006 and 2017.
Dr. Coats-Walton is an avid tennis player and Senior Olympian in tennis. She plays for the United States Tennis Association and the Greater Washington Tennis Association. Vacationing with her husband and daughter in the Caribbean Islands and indulging in exotic cuisines are favorite family adventures.
