Born in Ocala, FL in 1959, Dr. James Towry attended Vanguard High school graduating in 1977 and Central Florida Community College graduating in 1979 with an Associate of Arts degree, both in Ocala. He attended Truman State University in Kirksville, MO graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981. Dr Towry attended the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO graduating with a Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree in 1985. He was board certified in Family Medicine and practiced as a Family Physician for 15 years prior to entering and completing a second residency in dermatology in 2001. Dr. Towry is Board Certified in Dermatology and treats both children and adult diseases of the skin, hair and nails.
Dr. Towry practices all aspects of general dermatology in both children and adults; this includes skin cancer, melanoma, acne, psoriasis, viral diseases, autoimmune diseases, rashes, moles, hair and nail diseases. In addition he performs skin related surgical procedures including the removal of skin cancers, moles, biopsies, etc. Dr. Towry is currently 3rd Vice President of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology. He is a member of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology; American Academy of Dermatology; Florida Osteopathic Medical Association; National Psoriasis Association.
