Nationally renowned Board Certified Dermatologist and Mohs surgeon Dr. Chetan Vedvyas is the Director of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology at our Punta Gorda office.
Dr. Vedvyas is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. He graduated summa cum laude from New York University with an honors degree in psychology, and was elected a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the National Honor Society in psychology, and four other scholarship programs. While an undergraduate, he was a two-time awardee of competitive research scholarships for his work on infectious diseases at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Dr. Vedvyas proceeded to Harvard Medical School, earning his medical degree there while conducting research. While at Harvard, he received a PASTEUR clinical research fellowship for his original basic science research identifying a serum marker to be predictive of patient outcomes in critical illness. He then continued his medical training with a medical internship at the Harvard Cambridge Hospital. After his internship, Dr. Vedvyas completed his dermatology residency at New York University Langone Medical Center, the nation's #1 ranked dermatology residency program, according to U.S. News and World Report during his time there.
After his residency training in dermatology, Dr. Vedvyas completed the prestigious Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship at Houston Methodist Hospital's world-renowned Mohs fellowship program, accredited by the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS).
Dr. Vedvyas is an active member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology. He has authored numerous research articles in peer-reviewed journals focused on Mohs surgery, dermatology, and basic science. Dr. Vedvyas has also presented his work at local and national professional conferences.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Vedvyas has a diverse array of interests. He holds two software copyrights, and enjoys traveling, jogging, cooking, and spending time with his wife and children.
