Moderate Chemical Peels
When it’s time to turn back time a little, a moderate chemical peel can help you achieve deeper results. Moderate chemical peels are skin-resurfacing methods that reduce fine lines and wrinkles, treat acne, reduce acne scarring, and address uneven skin pigmentation. A series of three to six peels will provide the ultimate results.
Chemical peels can be performed to different depths in the skin. Moderate peels involve a solution that’s applied to the skin to remove cells from the outermost layer (the epidermis) and some remove cells from the second or middle layer (the dermis). When the new skin grows back, it’s smoother and younger looking, lessening the appearance of wrinkles, skin discolorations and scars.
Your Advanced Dermatology healthcare provider will determine if you’re a good candidate for a moderate chemical peel. After the procedure, your skin will be red and you’ll have some swelling but limited if any downtime. If you experience any discomfort it can be alleviated with over-the-counter products. It takes about one to two weeks for your skin to fully heal after a moderate chemical peel, after which time you’ll have noticeably smoother skin. The procedure can be repeated at intervals of three to nine months, as suggested by your Advanced Dermatology aesthetician.
You might consider combining a chemical peel with a medical facial to maximize the effects of these two treatments. A consultation with a licensed, specialized ADCS aesthetician is the first step to obtaining, and maintaining, your timeless look.
