Dr. Mills grew up in Asheville, North Carolina and graduated with honors with a degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel in 2004. He went on to graduate from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 2008.
In 2012, he completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and served as co-chief resident in pathology in 2011. He completed a fellowship in surgical pathology in 2013 at Wake Forest University School of Medicine and then went on to complete his fellowship in dermatopathology in 2014 at Wake Forest University School of Medicine.
After practicing dermatopathology for 3 years in a large private group he joined Skin Pathology Associates in Birmingham, Alabama in 2017. In 2021, Dr. Mills transferred within the Advanced Dermatology brand family to join Skin Pathology Associates in Fort Collins, Colorado. He became the laboratory director in Fort Collins in 2023.
Dr. Mills is passionate about the practice of dermatopathology, and he has a special interest in cutaneous inflammatory disorders and melanocytic neoplasia.
Outside of work, he enjoys running and spending time with his wife and two young sons.
